Happy New Year
DECEMBER 30, 2024
The ability to predict the future has long been shrouded in myths and superstition. While reflecting on predictions, I find myself in the Netherlands, reliving the devastating flood of 1953. The day before the disaster struck, weather forecasts warned of severe conditions unlike anything seen before. Yet, everyone went to bed that night, only to wake up to an unimaginable reality the next morning. Could all of this have been avoided? Is it our lack of imagination that leaves us vulnerable to surprise time and time again?
A prediction or forecast is a statement about future events or data. Predictions are often, though not always, based on experience and knowledge. Looking at past patterns, the flood in Asheville was not entirely unexpected. Events like the one on September 26, 2024, tend to occur roughly every hundred years. The last major flood happened in 1916, so it was only a matter of time. Yet, many people were more focused on Trump and the elections, leaving them distracted and unprepared. This inspired me to dig deeper into the truth about forecasting.
Just like a meteorologist, I can analyze your personal patterns to make reasonably accurate predictions for 2025. No one has the power to change the course of a hurricane, but you can prepare for it and even take advantage of the situation when you are emotionally ready. Your future is simply a non-physical extension of your current patterns and choices. That said, nothing about the future is set in stone.
While fortune-tellers and palm readers may claim to possess supernatural abilities to foresee the future, anyone can develop predictive skills by analyzing real evidence and drawing reasonable conclusions about how events are likely to unfold.
Trusting my instincts, I left the area before the disaster struck. Although I was still affected, my actions were guided by deeper knowledge rather than conscious reasoning. This experience strengthened my belief that predictive skills can be developed, much like how meteorologists forecast the weather. Understanding your probable future can be incredibly empowering; it’s up to you to shape what happens next.
