Heart and Soul

SEPTEMBER 23, 2024

My next step in life is to re-purpose a woodworking shop into a gallery in Black Mountain and be there a couple of days per week. While I was painting a sign for the space, I thought about my calligraphy teacher who was an icon in his field. He dedicated his life to the art of meticulously composing letters with paint. How could anybody ever think that it was possible to make a career in typography? He had a family and children.

I was thinking, “I love doing it but who is going to pay me for this?”

This thought pattern has been my biggest roadblock in finding my purpose. The fear causes a lesser vibration which leads to struggle.

When you put your heart and soul into your work, you do it with a great deal of enthusiasm and energy. The energy is never lost. You can figure out to get paid for it although it might take some time.

If you think only about jobs which are going to pay the bills, you are operating out of fear. On the contrary when you work from a place of joy, you will develop such expert knowledge that, at some point, your experience is in demand, just like my teacher.

You earn the most money for doing what you uniquely can contribute to the world.
