When I stated last week that the paintings that I would like to get rid of could be painted over, assembled in a different way or modified, I mean that I am the only one doing that. Once I encountered a situation in which the owner of one of my paintings thought it was ok to cut it up and frame only a part of it to his liking. Or better to accommodate his wife. (btw, I re-painted it and it is for sale)
Especially this particular painting had a symbolic deeper meaning for me. The whole painting. Not just a section. To be clear; paintings that go out in the world always stay intellectual property of the maker and can be modified with the permission of the one who originally created it.
Announcing the sale brought some questions to the surface. How will I communicate the items on sale to people who do not live in Asheville? First I want all works to be together in one room. August 19th, I will empty the storage in Florida (before another flood will hit the area) and drive the contents to my studio in the River Arts District, North Carolina. I will photograph everything that is no longer inspiring me and post it on the website. By the end of August that should be done.
I hope I will have time to keep up with the sold items and post these as soon as possible. Please forgive me in advance when something is already sold. The painting from two weeks ago is sold for example. This frees up space and is great for the overall energy.
